Matt Stillwell — Artist Bio
Matt Stillwell has built his career the same way he writes his songs: one honest story and one real connection at a time.
Raised in Sylva, North Carolina, in the mountains that continue to shape his sound and point of view, Stillwell first made his mark as a baseball player at Western Carolina University, where he was an all-conference athlete and part of a Southern Conference championship team. When his playing days ended, he carried that same work ethic onto stages across America.
More than 3,000 shows in 47 states later, Stillwell has become a durable independent voice in country music. His seven-album catalog has produced more than 16 million streams, more than 300 playlist placements, 27 Billboard chart appearances, and an audience of more than 300,000 followers across platforms.
Songs including “Shine,” “Heroes and Men,” “I’m a Vol for Life Y’all,” and “Hey Dad” have connected because they sound like the life behind them. “Hey Dad,” written from a place of love and loss, has earned more than 5 million streams and 15 million video views across platforms.
His latest project, Matt Stillwell 7 Series, Vol. 1, continues that story with new music grounded in memory, home, and hard-won perspective.
Away from the stage, Stillwell is the founder of BEAT ALS, an initiative of the 723 Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. The mission brings together music, community, and direct action for people and families affected by ALS.
Stillwell lives in Knoxville, Tennessee, with his wife and two daughters.
